Rub a Dub Dub

Today I thought I'd share another quick, easy and cheap craft you can make for kids. Since he takes a bath almost every day, Thing One gets bored with his bath toys pretty quickly. I looked at getting him some bath crayons, but they were kind of expensive for very little crayon so I thought we'd be buying refills often once we went down that road, plus I was a little nervous about the crayons staining the white tub or tile. I'm sure they don't I was just being paranoid. Anyway, instead I made him a set of foam shapes that stick to the tile when wet.  I got a set of foam circles at the dollar store. Make sure they are not the adhesive kind, just plain foam.

You do have to test the foam first by getting it wet and putting it on the tile to make sure it doesn't bleed. Most don't but I did get a bright pink that did bleed, just set those aside for another craft. Then cut out your foam into any shapes you want. There's so many possibilities. I started with a little forest.

Then I added some forest friends. I drew on them with fine point Sharpie and the marker has stayed on fine. Just be sure to let them totally dry before getting them wet.

With a few additions, we had Christmas shapes! One thing to keep in mind though is you want to make the shapes bigger than the drain, because these guys stuck in your pipes would be bad news. I was kind of taking a chance with these stars. We just always made sure to put them on the wall before we pulled the plug.

Thing One LOVES to make pictures out of the shapes. It's completely clean art for the tub, and it's easy and inexpensive to add more. We have a few different sets we rotate through.

Now if you can just get your little artist out of the tub...

Thanks for reading.
